The 60s-80s was a booming time in Khartoum where development, business and infrastructure were all going well. in the 90s, traces of this era were very clear and downtown Khartoum was still an active business town and this was the time when I started going there with my father whose office was somewhere downtown Khartoum.it was always fascinating and enjoyable going there, and it was my dream to grow up and work there.
20 years later, I started photographing those spaces. The past two decades were a little harsh on Khartoum and there was lots of change. one of these changes is that old Khartoum is no longer like before: it is not abandoned, but it almost feels like it is. I photographed these spaces linking what I see now to how I felt when I was young. The mixed emotions between then and now.
